If your child is just starting to read or is still unsure of letters and sounds, this is where we begin.

A strong, step-by-step foundation for beginning readers

Learn to Read with CAT is my individualized beginning reading program designed to help children build the foundational skills they need to become confident readers.

We don't begin with a predetermined lesson just because of your child's age or grade. I first find out what your child already knows and where they need support. From there, I create a lesson map that moves forward step by step at the right pace for your child.

Instruction begins with the foundational skills your child needs, including phonological awareness, letter-sound connections, and sight words. As those skills become secure, we move into blending sounds, reading words, and applying those skills in decodable text.

Lessons are active and engaging. We use games, writing activities, hands-on practice, stories, and interactive tools to give your child repeated practice without making learning feel repetitive.

The goal isn't just to get through a reading program. The goal is for your child to understand how reading works, experience success, and develop the skills and confidence to keep moving forward.

What your child will experience in each session:

• Explicit phonics and sound instruction

• Practice blending sounds and reading words

• Guided reading with decodable text

• Sight word practice through games and activities

• Writing and letter-formation practice

• Interactive activities that reinforce newly learned skills

• Instruction that adjusts as your child progresses

“He was able to learn all his letter sounds and blends, and progress in confidence.”
